PITTA

Pitta is energy of transformation. It governs digestion, body temperature, vision, appetite, thirst, complexion, intelligence and courage.

Pitta holds the qualities of fire and water. It is hot, sharp, light, penetrating, liquid, mobile, and oily. Just as fire transforms anything it comes across, Pitta is active any time the body converts or processes something. It resides in the eyes, blood, sweat glands, small intestines, lymph and stomach. Imbalanced pitta can lead to sharpness and inflammation in these areas in particular.

Pitta people have moderate body build, with a good muscular structure. Their skin is often oily and prone to acne, rashes and inflammations. They are often hot, therefore they tend to be sensitive to higher temperatures. Typical Pitta individuals often suffer from excess sweating, thirst and hunger, sight problems, diarrhoea, ulcers, rashes and inflammations. That happens due to too much fire in the body.

People of Pitta nature often have a clear yet sharp way of communicating. They are focused, intelligent, and use direct language. Fame, success and wealth are what they’re aiming for.

KAPHA

Kapha governs stability and structure of the body and mind. It shows the greatest influence of water and provides lubrication and cohesion of bodily structures such as the tissues, muscles and mucous membranes. Kapha literally holds the body together.

Kapha, composed of water and earth, is dull, heavy, cold, smooth, soft, oily, dense, static, liquid, cloudy and hard. It is cohesive, shapes and forms, governs growth and development, protects and lubricates, strengthens sense of smell and taste.

Kapha’s main locations in the body are chest, throat, stomach, tongue, nose, pancreas, lymph and fat. This powerful energy regulates taste, nourishment of the joints, protective lining of the stomach and lubrication of the lungs and mouth.

Kapha type people have a strong, heavy frame with good physical strength and stamina, which gives them natural resistance to disease and positive outlook in life. They have a tendency to be overweight and inactive. Kapha individuals have a slow, peaceful and easy going nature. They speak and move slowly and are unlikely to get upset easily, yet this approach makes them lack motivation and spontaneity.
